It was a beautiful, quiet evening in September when I met up with this lovely family for a family shoot at the idyllic Schaalsee lake. The sun was slowly slanting towards the horizon, bathing the landscape in warm, golden light.

 

When we discovered this enchanting jetty, we knew immediately that this was where we wanted to take our photos. Surrounded by tall reeds and a wonderful stillness, this place provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxed family shoot in nature. In the distance, only the occasional voices of other walkers could be heard, enjoying the sunset like us. A few rowing boats lay gently on the calm water - a dream for authentic family photos.

 

With family shoots, it's particularly important to me that you spend time together as a family and really engage with each other. That's exactly what happened that evening: the little girl was sitting on the jetty with her dad and they both curiously discovered a rustling in the reeds. On the other side of the jetty, the mother was breastfeeding her little son while the warm rays of sunshine sank down on them. They laughed, cuddled and enjoyed the precious time together.
 

I am incredibly grateful that as a family photographer, I am able to accompany such personal and loving moments with my camera. This evening at the Schaalsee not only created wonderful memories for the family, but also gave me unforgettable impressions as a photographer.
