Its about the little moments
It was a beautiful, peaceful September evening when I met up with this lovely family for a family photo shoot at a lake east of Hamburg. The sun was slowly sinking toward the horizon, bathing the landscape in warm, golden light.
When we discovered this enchanting pier, we knew right away: This is where we want to take photos. Surrounded by tall reeds and a wonderful sense of peace, this spot offered the perfect backdrop for natural family photos in the great outdoors.
In the distance, we could hear the occasional voices of other walkers who, like us, were enjoying the evening by the water. A few rowboats bobbed quietly on the lake, and the atmosphere couldn't have been more relaxed.
During the photo shoot, there were many little moments that make family life so special. The daughter sat on the dock with her dad, curiously watching the movement in the reeds. A few meters away, Mom was nursing her little son in the warm evening light. There was laughter, cuddling, and a conscious enjoyment of their time together.
It's precisely these moments that make family photos so precious to me. It's not about perfection, but about memories of the people and moments that shape our lives.

FAMILY PHOTOS AT SUNSET - WHY SPRING AND FALL ARE IDEAL
Many families prefer the warm light just before sunset for their family photo shoot. This preference can often be beautifully accommodated, especially in the spring and fall.
While the sun sets very late in midsummer, the so-called “golden hour” often falls in the early evening during the transitional seasons. This makes planning much more relaxed for families with young children.
At the same time, the low-angle sunlight creates a warm and natural atmosphere. The colors appear softer, the light is more flattering, and the photos take on a special mood.
This family photo shoot by the lake also took place on an autumn evening. The golden light, the tranquility by the water, and the time spent together as a family created the perfect setting for natural memories.
