On a sunny December day, I had the pleasure of capturing a very special family photo shoot in Hamburg: a heartwarming home story featuring a baby who was already a few months old.
The shoot took place in a very relaxed atmosphere at the family’s home. In familiar surroundings, we captured images full of closeness, comfort, and genuine emotions. There was cuddling, laughter, and time spent together. These are exactly the moments that families often cherish most later on.
The parents were beaming with joy and treated their little miracle with so much love that I immediately felt welcome. Amid tender touches, curious glances, and many heartfelt moments, memories were created that tell the story of this young family.
As a family photographer, I love exactly this kind of shoot. It’s not about creating perfect situations, but about capturing the little moments that make up your everyday life and that pass by far too quickly.

Your own home is often where the most cherished family memories are made. It’s where you cuddle, play, comfort one another, and laugh together. That’s exactly why many families choose a home story.
Unlike a traditional photo shoot at an external location, a home story takes place in your familiar surroundings. Young children and babies, in particular, often feel safe and secure at home, which allows for very natural photos to be taken.
At the same time, we don’t just photograph the people - we also capture the surroundings in which this special phase of life unfolds. The child’s room, their favorite blanket, or that cozy corner of the sofa often become cherished mementos years later.
The result is family photos that not only show what you looked like, but also what your family life felt like during that time.
DO NEWBORN PHOTOS HAVE TO BE TAKEN IN THE FIRST FEW DAYS OF LIFE?
Many parents believe that newborn photos can only be taken in the first few days after birth. In fact, however, you can capture beautiful memories of your little miracle even a few weeks or months later.
At this age, babies often respond more strongly to their surroundings, give their parents their first conscious glances, or even smile. This results in photos that beautifully capture the bond within the family.
At the same time, many parents don’t feel ready for a photo shoot during the first few weeks after the birth. A home photo session a few months later offers the chance to capture this special time in a relaxed setting.
That’s why there’s no perfect time for family photos with your baby - just the time that feels right for you.
