AN AUTUMN GETAWAY IN NATURE
Some photo shoots go according to plan. This one didn’t - and that’s exactly why it was so unforgettable.
When I arrived at the small train station in the Harz Mountains, the autumn sun was still shining. Three shooting locations were planned: a waterfall, a lake, and a small pier at the edge of the forest. What happened in between - rain, hail, a spontaneous coffee stop at a kiosk, and photos in the drizzle - wasn’t part of the plan.
And yet, or perhaps precisely because of that, this shoot is one that will stay with me for a long time.

THREE SPOTS, A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER, AND AUTHENTIC MOMENTS
We could hear the roar of the waterfall from a distance. The two of them took off their shoes and walked down to the water - and the interplay between the wild natural surroundings and the couple in love was simply magical.
On the way to the lake, the sky clouded over. Rain, then hail. We found shelter at a small kiosk, warmed up with hot coffee, and used the break to take a few spontaneous couple photos in the rain. Proof that great pictures aren’t just taken in the sunshine.
It was slowly getting dark at the pier; the wind was blowing strongly, and the autumn grass framed the small pier at the edge of the forest. It was the perfect setting to snuggle even closer together. With lanterns, we found our way back to the parking lot - soaked to the bone, but overjoyed.
